Sistem bahan bakar (fuel system)


Sistem bahan bakar (fuel system) terdiri dari beberpa komponen dimulai dari tangki bahan bakar (fuel tank) sampai pada chorcoal canister. Bahan bakar yang tersimpan dalam tangki dikirim oleh pompa bahan bakar (fuel pump) ke karburator melalui pipa-pipa selang-selang. Air dan pasir, kotoran dan benda-benda lainnya dikeluarkan dari bahan bakar oleh saringan (fuel filter).
Karburator menyalurkan ke mesin sejumlah bahan bakar yang dibutuhkan berupa campuran udara dan bensin. Sejumlah gas HC yang timbul didalam tangki dikurangi oleh charchoal canister (digunakan pada beberapa model). Keseluruhan bagian ini membuat sistem bahan bakar.

Bensin dialirkan melalui saringan, selang dan pipa hisap  (suction tube). Bensin yang sudah disaring dikirim ke karburator oleh pompa bahan bakar, dan karburator mencampurnya dengan udara dengan suatu perbandingan tertentu menjadi campuran bahan bakar dan udara. Sebagian campuran bisa menguap dan menjadi kabut saat mengalir melalui intake manifold ke silinder-silinder.
